1st Brigade Soldiers Spearhead Success in Texas State Guard’s ‘Young Heroes’ Toy Drive

The Texas State Guard’s ‘Young Heroes of the Guard Toy Drive’ is making a remarkable difference in the lives of children across the state, thanks to the unwavering efforts of its soldiers. In a notable example, soldiers from the 1st Brigade have been actively involved in several toy collection events. The ‘Tactical Santa’, known affectionately as “Big Red”, recently delivered over 200 toys, blankets, and socks to Chisholm Trail for Toys at Socorro’s historic Socorro Mission. In another significant effort, soldiers from the 1st Brigade collected a commendable total of 859 toys from Ollie’s in Hurst and Grapevine, benefiting women’s shelters, hospitals, and schools, among other organizations. Additionally, the 4th Battalion, 1st Brigade, demonstrated their commitment by collecting 198 toys from generous shoppers at the Five Below in Lewisville. Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, also contributed by collecting toys at Redefined Coffee House, aiding local hospitals, schools, and women’s shelters. These initiatives exemplify the dedication of the Texas State Guard in supporting vulnerable communities through the toy drive.

Since its inception in 2009, the ‘Young Heroes of the Guard Toy Drive’ has made a substantial impact, amassing an impressive total of over 600,000 toys. These donations have brought joy and hope to numerous children in diverse environments, including schools, hospitals, daycares, and shelters. The soldiers of the Texas State Guard show extraordinary dedication by organizing this extensive toy drive alongside their regular duties, strengthening the ties between the military and the communities they serve. As the holiday season draws near, the Texas State Guard renews its commitment to ensuring that no child goes without a toy. More than just a charity initiative, the toy drive is a powerful symbol of hope, benevolence, and the core values of protection, service, and community unity that the Guard stands for. Through their bravery and empathy, the soldiers of the Texas State Guard are dedicated to spreading the warmth of the holiday spirit with every toy distributed and every smile brought to a child’s face.
