The Georgia State Defense Force recently assisted Alpha Company of The Georgia Army National Guard’s 1-121st Infantry Regiment during their recent training mission. The mission was held at Ellenwood Readiness Center. The State Defense Force troops acted as the Opposing Force during The 1-121st Infantry Regiments Primary Level Training (PLT) which involves the Army unit clearing locations and buildings of enemy targets. The 121st Infantry Regiments Soldiers deployed their units tactically to Dawson Forest and simulated engaging State Defense Force troops.
The Georgia State Defense Force has been serving The National Guard as an Opposing Force for their tactical operations for years. Previous to the establishment of using The Georgia State Defense Force as an opposing force The Georgia Army National Guard had to use their own troops to serve in this capacity during training exercises. This ultimately decreased the amount of training every Army National Guard soldier received. With State Defense Force troops serving this role now the entire Army National Guard unit can train together and develop their skills as one.
Ready to Serve!ACO 1-121 conducted some great training in November. The Company conducted the ACFT early in the morning. After, key leaders began the TLP process to brief their Soldiers on a tactical plan. The training culminated with the company deploying to Dawson Forest and conducting multiple PLT Raids.Special thanks to the Georgia State Defense Force for the tough and realistic opposing force support!
