South Carolina State Guard Trains With National Guard & State Police in Cyber Security

The South Carolina State Guard (State Defense Force) recently held a Joint Task Force Cyber Exercise with The South Carolina Army National Guard & South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). The G-2 Cyber Team of The State Guard, led by Colonel William Oden, worked with investigators from SLED and National Guard soldiers in multiple IT avenues from Cyber Kill Chains to Incident Response Policy.

These agencies & organizations are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of The IT infrastructure of South Carolina, from the election system, law enforcement database to the defense systems. During the training the troops covered the following topics:

  • Incident Response
  • Cyber Kill Chain
  • Order of Volatility
  • The OODA Loop
  • Incident Response Policy
  • Cyber Team composition and Containment

November Drill Cyber Incident Response Training Event.
SCSG G-2 Cyber Team spearheaded by COL William Oden conducted joint Incident Response training with participants from SLED Ryan Truskey, Caitlin Scroggins, I-Shan Chen, Alexis Berens, and Joseph Taylor. The Citadel Cadets in attendance were Jacob Wood, Slateon Frederick, and Dalton Hazelwood. The SCSG G-2 Cyber Team 2LT Torry Crass conducted the training on Saturday 5 November 2022 from 0900 to 1600 hours at Joint Army National Guard Training base at McEntire.
The topics that were delivered by 2LT Torry Crass included Threat Hunting, Remediation in Incident Response, Cyber Kill Chain, Order of Volatility, The OODA Loop, Incident Response Policy, Cyber Team composition and Containment.
