In this Commanders Briefing clip, we speak with Major General Leon Lott, Commanding General of The South Carolina State Guard, about the potential introduction of an Opposing Forces (OPFOR) mission similar to the one conducted by The Georgia State Defense Force (GSDF) for The Georgia Army National Guard. OPFOR missions involve Defense Force soldiers acting as live adversaries to simulate enemy combatants, providing crucial, realistic training scenarios. These exercises, which challenge National Guard troops with dynamic and unpredictable opponents during Close Quarter Combat (CQC) and infantry operations, enhance their skills, adaptability, and critical thinking. This type of immersive training not only sharpens tactical proficiency but also prepares soldiers for the complexities of real-world combat, potentially saving lives in future engagements. Major General Lott expresses keen interest in adopting a similar mission for The South Carolina State Guard, recognizing the significant impact on overall troop readiness.
