This collection focuses on the ongoing actions we are taking to address the uniform policy recommendations outlined in CNGBI 5500.01. It will serve as a central place where supporters can follow our advocacy work, state responses, and our continued efforts to safeguard the identity and uniform standards of State Defense Forces nationwide.
Our first post in this collection offers an overview of the work we have been engaged in since learning, in late 2023, about the National Guard Bureau’s intent to revise CNGBI 5500.01A. From the moment these proposed uniform recommendations surfaced, we committed ourselves to pushing back on changes that have undermined the morale, recognition, and the operational effectiveness of State Defense Forces. Although our efforts to communicate directly with key decision-makers were met with obstacles, we continued pressing forward—leveraging every available channel, elevating our concerns, and underscoring the serious mission-impacting and potentially life-threatening risks these uniform changes pose.
Even after the policy was formally published, we persisted in encouraging state leadership to reconsider adopting the recommendations. As more State Defense Forces began transitioning to modified uniform standards in 2025, it became clear that new approaches were needed. That is when we expanded our reach to influential Non-Government (NGO) organizations outside government—groups with a long-standing relationships with The Federal Government and deep interest in national security, civil defense, and the role of State Defense Forces.
The full update, including the important early breakthrough we’ve achieved, is available to our Colonel Tier and above. We’ve placed it at this level because this initiative has required extensive time, research, and staff involvement, and the support from these tiers helps us compensate the team members who make this work possible. However, you do not need to become a Colonel or General Tier member to access this update, supporters can unlock it through a one-time $10 purchase, with all proceeds going directly toward paying our staff for their ongoing work on this critical project.
This latest development is not the conclusion of our efforts but an important early progression in what will be a longer campaign. We will continue to engage, advise, and collaborate where possible to ensure that the identity and professionalism of State Defense Forces are preserved. Colonel Tier members and above will receive ongoing updates in this new Patreon collection as we move forward with the next phase of this effort.
We are also undertaking a series of improvements to our Patreon page to ensure members can easily understand and access their benefits. These updates will clearly outline which collections are available at each tier, making it simpler for supporters to know exactly what content they unlock as part of their membership. In addition, we are streamlining access to coupon codes for The State Defense Force Online Store, allowing members to quickly locate and redeem their discounts without searching through multiple posts. As part of this broader refresh, we will also be unveiling a redesigned banner image that better represents our mission, our identity, and the growing community supporting State Defense Forces across the country. These enhancements are intended to provide a smoother, more intuitive experience for all our members.
