Yesterday was National Guard Day, and to celebrate the occasion The Georgia State Defense Force was invited to celebrate the holiday with The Adjutant General (Senior National Guard General) of Georgia. The celebration was held at The Georgia State Capital with the Senior Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of The Army National Guard & Air National Guard. Commanding General Brigadier General Mark D. Gelhardt Sr. of The Georgia State Defense Force was in attendance along with other members of The Defense Force.
National Guard Day is a day in which we get to thank the Heroes of The National Guard who serve one of the most unique roles in the military. They are The States 911 force, rescuing their fellow citizens when natural disasters or emergencies strike and they are also the backbone of The United States Military. Always ready to be deployed to troubled spots throughout the world to ensure the US Military has the resources and manpower they need to accomplish the mission.

I had the honor of representing the Georgia State Defense Force and the Georgia National Guard with The Adjutant General of Georgia on National Guard day at the capital. The TAG talked at the opening of the Georgia State Senate today indicating how the GSDF just deployed to Griffin/Spaulding County for Disasters Response after the recent tornados. After the opening, we had some photos with state seniors and the Lieutenant Governor in the Senate champers. The GSDF gets GREAT support from our NG Brothers and Sisters and the TAG. I am proud to be part of this great team.
