Texas State Guard 2nd Brigade Sharpens Fundamental SAR Skills During Annual Training

During their Annual Training at in Bryan, Texas on April 20, 2024, members of the Search and Rescue (SAR) Team from the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Brigade of the Texas State Guard led a critical exercise focusing on the refinement of basic search and rescue skills. This exercise included training with ropes and various other equipment essential for effective SAR operations. The guardsmen demonstrated the construction of a hasty rope seat and the use of a carabiner, which were crucial for practicing extraction techniques across a temporary rope bridge. This training underscores the brigade’s readiness motto, “Ad Omnia Parati” (Ready For Anything), ensuring that they remain well-prepared for any disaster response scenario.

The Texas State Guard boasts one of the most proficient Search and Rescue teams in the nation, capable of executing missions in diverse environments ranging from dense woodlands and urban settings to maritime areas.
