On May 19, 2024, fourteen recruits were sworn into the Georgia State Defense Force (GSDF) in Macon, Georgia. These new members were guided through the GSDF Military Entry Processing Station (MEPS) by instructors from the 4th and 5th brigades, along with other GSDF units. This process marks the first significant step in their journey to becoming soldiers, paralleling the MEPS procedures used in other military branches. The next step for these new recruits is to begin their Initial Entry Training (Basic Training) which will take place over the course of the next few months. The induction of these recruits signifies the continuous growth and readiness of the GSDF to serve and protect the state of Georgia.
The Georgia State Defense Force also celebrated the graduation of a new class from their Basic Leader Course (BLC) on May 11, 2024, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia. Among the graduates, Cpl. Jacquelyn Mallard earned the class Leadership Award, Cpl. Christina Turner received the Academic Award, and Sgt. Jeffrey Graff was honored with the “Gung-Ho” Award. The course was led by Master Sgt. William Tello and Sgt. 1st Class RL McCaskill. The BLC aims to prepare sergeants, promotable specialists, and corporals for leadership roles by providing essential skills, knowledge, and experience needed for effective noncommissioned officer duties. This course serves as the foundational training for future leader development within the GSDF.
Congratulations to all the new recruits for joining The Georgia State Defense Force and Georgia’s newest leaders.
