The South Carolina State Guard (SCSG – State Defense Force) has been honored to receive a proclamation from the Richland County Council designating September as South Carolina State Guard Month. This significant recognition was accepted by Major General Leon Lott, Commanding General of the SCSG, along with other dedicated members of the Guard in attendance. This proclamation underscores the State Guard’s continuous commitment to being trained and ready to serve the citizens of South Carolina whenever the call arises.
We congratulate the South Carolina State Guard on this well-deserved honor. This recognition reflects the incredible missions they have carried out with the South Carolina National Guard, the South Carolina Department of Corrections, and multiple local and state law enforcement agencies. Whether supporting communities in times of natural disasters or stepping up during emergencies, the SCSG has consistently proven its reliability. Much of this success can be attributed to the exceptional leadership of Major General Leon Lott, whose guidance and commitment have strengthened the Guard’s readiness and service.
