Remembering Sacrifice: Veterans Day Parade with 2nd Company Foot Guard

On Sunday, Nov. 10, soldiers from the 2nd Company of The Governor’s Foot Guard (Connecticut State Defense Force – 2GFG) proudly marched in the Branford Veterans Day Parade, honoring the sacrifices made by our nation’s veterans. The parade was a heartfelt tribute, uniting the community in gratitude for those who have fought to safeguard our freedoms and defend the defenseless.

The 2GFG extended its deepest appreciation to all who have served in every branch of the military, emphasizing their courage, dedication, and selflessness as the foundation of our nation’s strength. Veterans were celebrated not only for their past service but for their enduring role in inspiring future generations to uphold the values of liberty and service.

Reflecting on the importance of their sacrifice, the 2GFG shared President Ronald Reagan’s poignant words: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.” These words underscore the ongoing responsibility to honor and preserve the legacy of those who have served.
