Troops from The Georgia State Defense Force recently spent their monthly training drill focusing on chainsaw operation & maintenance, as well as how to handle hazards involved in roadway and downed tree removal. The Georgia State Defense Force ensures their troops are trained in these skills so during a natural disaster or extreme weather they can be quickly deployed to areas with downed power lines or roadway obstructions.
Georgia State Defense Force (GSDF) Soldiers participate in debris clearing and chainsaw operations training led by the GSDF 76th Support Brigade, 1st Engineer Battalion, Acworth, Ga., March 5-6, 2022.
During training, Soldiers learned about chainsaw maintenance and the hazards involved in cutting into downed trees. Skills acquired through this training can be applied when GSDF Soldiers serve the citizens of Georgia during emergencies.
The GSDF is a component of the Georgia Department of Defense, along with the Georgia Air National Guard and Georgia Army National Guard.
