Texas State Guard Competes In Governor’s 20

The Texas National Guard regularly hosts firearm proficiency competitions to highlight which soldiers excel at small arms skill. The competition involves a side arm match as well as the M4 rifle competition. The Texas State Guard is regularly invited by The National Guard to join the event and go head to head with Army National Guard soldiers & Air National Guard airmen.

This year the team achieved a 96% in the M17 Qualification Round, as Corporal Jerah Hutchins made it into the final 8 beating out 14 other soldiers and airmen.

The “Governor’s 20” marksmanship competition starts this weekend with pistols and will continue over the coming months.
The “Governor’s 20” is a competition to find the best shooters in the Texas National Guard. Soldiers compete against one another to wear the “Governor’s 20” tab on their uniforms. The Texas National Guard awards eight for rifle, eight for pistol, two for machine gun, and two for sniper.
Good luck to our very own, Texas State Guard service member, Corporal Jerah Hutchins as she attempts to become the first female service member in the Texas State Guard to reach the final 8.

Congratulations

to Corporal Jerah Hutchins for her superb showing in the Governors 20 shooting competition. Although she did not tab, she did win first in her relay on the M17 Qual (96%) and gained many new friendships during the competition. Well done Corporal.
