Mississippi State Guard Takes 1st Place In Military Firearm Tournament

For nearly 30 years, The Mid-South Guard & Reserve Association has been hosting firearms competitions between the different military branches. Soldiers & Airmen from The Mississippi Army National Guard, Air National Guard, US Army, US Navy, US Marine Corps go toe to toe to see which branch can win the yearly competition. The competition focuses on The M-9 Pistol and The M-16 Service Rifle and is held at The Memphis Police Academy firing range.

This year members from The US Marine Corps, US Marine Corps Reserve, US Army Reserve, US Navy Reserve, Tennessee Air National Guard, Tennessee State Guard (State Defense Force), and Mississippi State Guard (State Defense Force) all competed at the event. The competition involved 4 sections with shooting twice at 25 yards, then 20 yards and finally 15 yards. After each group shot, the winner was declared, the team from The Mississippi State Guard won 1st Place.

The team was composed of Chief Warrant Officer 4 Riley, Lt. Col. Kundrick, Warrant Officer 1 Stanford and PFC Scarborough.

Congratulations to The Mississippi State Guard for taking home 1st place.
