The Connecticut Governors Guards (State Defense Force), embodying a deep sense of duty and respect, took to the streets with solemn pride in the North Haven, Branford and Avon Parades for Memorial Day. As the rhythmic cadence of their footsteps echoed through the towns, their presence served as a poignant reminder of the selfless sacrifice made by countless men and women. Reflecting upon these sacrifices, the words of George S. Patton Jr. resonate powerfully: “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived.”
