The Texas State Guard has been incredibly busy over the last few months. In late May and early June, the Texas State Guard activated hundreds of soldiers to respond to damage caused by widespread flooding and tornadoes. Texas State Guard soldiers conducted infrastructure evaluations of the damage caused by the storms and tornadoes, set up Point of Distribution locations to disperse emergency supplies, and established shelters for those left homeless. In July, the Texas State Guard was activated to respond to both Tropical Storm Alberto & Hurricane Beryl, which again caused widespread flooding and destruction. The Texas State Guard deployed search and rescue troops, set up Point of Distribution locations, and established additional shelters for those affected. Despite these significant emergency responses, the Texas State Guard continued its day-to-day missions, including monthly training and the massive medical support mission known as Operation Border Health Preparedness. This operation, which began this week, involves hundreds of Texas State Guard troops providing no-cost health care to tens of thousands of Texans.
Beyond these demanding missions, the Texas State Guard is also playing a crucial role in Operation Lone Star, a collaborative effort alongside the Texas National Guard, Louisiana National Guard, and other National Guards from across the country. This operation aims to bolster border security by setting up obstacles and fencing to combat drug trafficking and other illegal activitie. The Texas State Guard’s involvement in this mission highlights their versatility and dedication to protecting the state. Here are a few photos of Texas State Guard troops diligently performing their duties during this critical operation.
