A Look At California State Guard Basic Training

The California State Guard (State Defense Force) recently shared some footage from their current Basic Training class. The recruits featured in the video are brand new soldiers, having never served in The US Military. They are getting their first taste of military life. The recruits discuss why they joined The State Guard and what they hope to get out of their service.

One surprising revelation during the video was that The Texas State Guard (State Defense Force) deployed a team of observers to California to observe their training as well as share insights on how they do things. The purpose of this deployment is to share ideas, refine trainings methods and develop to be a more efficient State Guard.

The California State Guard, Joint Training Command, held their annual Basic Training Course in Camp San Luis Obispo, CA on February 3rd, 2023. This training event introduced new non-prior CSG service members to military culture, ceremonies, and procedures. Those interviewed are SFC (CA) Harman, SPC (CA) Sundar, and PFC (CA) Tu. We would like to thank MAJ (TX) Przybyla from the Texas State Guard who attended the training to observe and discuss best practices for new service-members.
