Ohio Military Reserve Trains Its Troops In Self-Defense Techniques

Last year as Covid-19 cases skyrocketed throughout the nation, staffs in many facilities were reduced with the personnel they had on hand. Ohio was not immune from this as a county jail in Cuyahoga County had a drastic shortage in staff due to illness. In response the Governor Ordered The Ohio Military Reserve to Assist at the Jail. The mission lasted several weeks and was an overwhelming success. The Adjutant General of Ohio (Senior National Guard of the State) was even on hand at the end of the mission to congratulate the Ohio State Defense Force Troops for the incredible work.

During their Annual Training event, the Ohio Military Reserve trained its troops in self-defense techniques and tactics to ensure their troops are ready for any similar missions in the future.

The South Carolina State Guard also supports and assists their Department of Corrections. Their mission is an active continuous mission in which they assist the Officers in Anti-Contraband Efforts.

Combatitives are a TY23 Training staple at monthly Assemblies. AT22 helped kick off close quarters self defense training for Soldiers. As missions change, self defense is an important part of building the best Soldier Ohioans can be. If close quarters combatitives and a mission oriented life are a life you want to live, contact recruiting@ohmr.ohio.gov or go to www.ohiomilitaryreserve.com

We Train. We Fight.
Operation Steady Resolve saw OHMR Soldiers being activated to decompress labor shortages at correctional facilities across the state. In order to evolve to meet the mission our soldiers engaged in Defensive Combatives Training where they learned tactics to defuse physical altercations in a prison environment. The training was so impactful that it has become a part of our Annual Training Certification Process. Bravo Zulu to all the 1st BN Soldiers that led or participated in this training. RODGER YOUNG! TIP OF THE SPEAR!
